How do our area experience and certifications help your car in Houston?

Green Divider

Our experience with Houston, Tomball, and nearby areas helps us identify problems commonly related to climate or road conditions. So we can get your vehicle ready and reliable for the season and check for “usual suspects” when performing parts maintenance.

For example, in one recent service, a customer came in with an engine problem, which we’re familiar with around the area. In this case, the vehicle had a ‘Check Engine’ light on the dashboard and was throwing code for a purge valve. The customer had a mobile mechanic change the purge valve but after the change, the car didn’t start. Then, they changed the vehicle’s starter but the car still didn’t start or crank. After they came to our shop and we did an initial inspection, we decided to run the scanner, revealing many codes for ‘communication loss’ with the Body Control Module (BCM), and vent control code for the EVAP system. Next, we tested all pins in the Body Control Module certifying it had enough battery voltage. Unfortunately, the BCM isn’t communicating with other modules, which is causing the starting issue. The BCM needs replacement and reprogramming for the vehicle to start. After replacement, a few more tests might be needed.

The usual suspect in the service above is the BCM since it often causes starting issues, check engine lights, communication loss codes, etc.

For certification, we have Master ASE Certified technicians and AMI-accredited advisors, who are experts in identifying and recommending your vehicle’s service needs. With decades of experience working for the best auto repair shops in many states, they’re quick at diagnosing and providing a solution.  We also take pride in transparency certification, being AutoTechIQ-certified, meaning we carry extra steps to provide maximum transparency, flexibility, and customer education when servicing your vehicle.

Driving in Houston, Texas

Driving in Houston requires you to keep an eye out for some things. Let’s look at some of the conditions in the area that are important to know about before hitting the road.

  • Climate: Climate-wise you can look outside if it’s rainy or dry and consider the season you’re in right now before driving in Houston. The dry season is typically from April to October and the wet season is from November to April; this helps you decide to check your tires, suspension, speed, etc.
  • Traffic: Houston has a big economy and population; this means that sometimes the roads can get packed with vehicles. So, consider whether you’re going to drive during rush hour or through high-traffic freeways. Also, is the season Spring Break? For instance, driving from Woodlands to Downtown on a Saturday during Spring Break can feel like morning rush hour.
  • Neighborhoods: Some neighborhoods around Houston are more densely populated, meaning more businesses and traffic. So, check the area’s business hours and if it’s usually high traffic. For example, driving between the neighborhoods Gleannloch and Klein through Stuebner Airline Road during rush hour near Route 99 can feel incredibly packed.
  • Distance: What’s the drive route? A big drive going through different neighborhoods, roads, and freeways can last many minutes or even hours depending on the distance. Also, it’s a good idea to browse the route’s surroundings to see if there’s any reliable auto repair shop, just in case.

Overall Houston has good road planning that helps with traffic flow. The road conditions are rarely tricky and you’ll have many lanes in most freeways and roads. Still, consider your personal preferences; if you prefer lighter traffic, watch out for the day hours and areas where you’ll be on the road.
